Conscience of the Creature and The Truthtronic Brain: last updated October 2026
These stories are made by one person. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking. But some of what you do while playing is saved, and you should know exactly what, why, and for how long.
What is saved
- What you type or speak to the character. Every line is saved with the game session, so the author can read how players talk to the story and fix the places where it misunderstands them.
- What happens in your game: the scenes you visit, the choices you click, the endings you reach, and any thumbs-up or thumbs-down you give a passage.
- A random session number. Nothing that identifies you. The game does not record your IP address, your name, or your email, and does not ask for them.
Where it goes
- Session records are stored on the game's own server.
- When a session ends, a summary (including the lines you typed) is emailed to the author.
- When you type or speak to the character, that line is sent to Anthropic, the AI company whose model reads it and judges whether the character has understood you. Anthropic handles it under its own privacy policy. Clicking choices sends nothing to any AI service.
- If you speak instead of typing, your browser turns your voice into text using its own speech service (in Chrome, that is Google's). The game only receives the text.
- Nothing is sold, shared for advertising, or used to identify you.
How long it is kept
Session records and summary emails are deleted after 90 days. A handful of anonymous lines may be kept longer as examples for testing the game's understanding, with anything that looks like personal information removed.
On your own device
Your browser keeps which endings you have seen, your reading preferences, and a saved game (which scenes you have finished and what the character has learned) so you can continue where you left off. The save stays in your browser; nothing about it is stored on the server, and finishing the story or choosing Play Again removes it. One cookie lets you return to a game in progress for up to an hour. You can clear all of this at any time in your browser's settings.
Please don't share personal information
You are talking to a fictional character. Please don't type your real name, where you live, or anything else about yourself or other real people. These stories are intended for players aged 13 and over.
Questions, or want something deleted?
Write to cotc@casedefender.legal. Give the approximate date and time you played and anything you remember typing, and the session will be found and deleted.
